Questions & AnswersCategory: QuestionsBody Text Doesn't Appear to Work
Husayn asked 8 years ago
Hello, We just installed Multilingualizer on our site and are incredibly excited to begin using it. Unfortunately, the body text on a test page (and on other pages) shows in both languages and shows the "...." and ".." punctuation marks. Page titles however, do show in the correct language. Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated. English French

I have the same problem it works for the titles (input text) bot not for the blocks. I also dont know if this dots on the new lines can be wrapped in “” element, because if you have WYSIWYG editor this is done automatically. Hope we get response asap.

I meant by “” ‘p’ element tag 🙂

Hi – there are two reasons why blocks of text translation might not be working:

  1. If you have used the shorthand for page titles or menus but these page titles or menus are not actually ‘html leafs’. If in doubt, use the longform of: ….lang1..lang2….
  2. Your editor might be changing 3 of the dots to a single ‘Elipses’ character. If so, re-enter these as 4 actual dots

If you wish, in v3.7+ you can choose a different language block separator – e.g. ~~~~ instead of …. which avoids the ellipses problem.
Also – there is a new update released today which has a lot of bug fixes from last week – I’ve been pouring through the Q&A to collate them all and most of them are fixed as well as significant performance boosts. Log into your account to regenerate the latest code. The latest version also includes auto-upgrades so you won’t need to regenerate code again in future.

Replacing the …. with ~~~~ did the trick for me. Loading on mobile is also much faster than before. Thanks Dave!

Glad to hear it! I worked very hard on the performance optimisations over the weekend. Glad it’s finally flying again and fully compatible with all the themes again. Thanks for posting back that it’s working for you now, hopefully others will find this useful.

I also had this problem. This is what worked for me. Instead of ….My website..Meine Seite…. Use: My website..Meine Seite
The same way that it looks on your titles, just two dots inbetween the languages in the body text.
Hope that helps

This will work providing there is no extra formatting on the text – e.g. if you had parts of My Website in bold or underlined or as hyperlinks then you would need to use the full text block formatting method.
