Questions & AnswersCategory: QuestionsSquarespace navigation dropdowns now open blank page & inconsistent translation
nrmaskell asked 6 years ago
Hi there, Just moving over to multilingualizer from bablic and it is all going pretty well, but I am having a couple of issues. One thing I have noticed is that the navigation links on our site now open a blank page where the user has to use the back button to get out of it. Previously a user couldn't click on the navigation links, they would just open a dropdown menu on hover which had clickable links. Multilingualizer has somehow made them links. This is a pretty breaking change, any advice on how to click? I also have a couple of situations where the title text isn't showing up. For example, on this page the title "Historia y Proyectos" shows up in Spanish, but "History" doesn't show up in english. Inspected the element and it is not malformed
<h1>History..Historia y Proyectos</h1>
This is also happening on the about page (About and Sobre Nosotros) and the permaculture page (Permaculture and Permacultura y Agroecología). Lastly, there are two situations where the in the English version is displays both texts (excluding the .... and ..) and on the spanish version it just displays english. I have checked all the troubleshooting options and inspected the text for malformed html, but haven't found any. What I did find is if I put an empty translation block above both of those text blocks, it did work.
....
..
....
Any advice on a more permanent solution?    Thanks heaps!

Okay, so the first issue where it is opening a blank page is happening on all the links where Squarespace uses href=”#” and must handle the click event themselves.

Your header code injection has caused those links to behave differently (I have tried removing it and it goes back to normal). So even the buttons on carousels will open a blank page. :S

I’ve checked your page’s source code and there’s instances where “….” has been turned into “… .” which can happen if you’ve pasted the text from a text editor. If you change the dots back to “….” it should work correctly.

Hi Freddy, thanks for getting back to me. I will check it out.

Are you able to add any advice for the first question? The broken links all over the website is the major issue I am currently facing.
